Extension Modules: Filter Points

The extension module Filter Points support reducing resolution of 3d point clouds, eliminating outliers or suppressing measurement noise.


  • Various filtering methods are available for point filtering
  • The target resolution can be influenced very easily
  • An exact target resolution (rasterization) can be specified
  • An estimated number of points after filtering is displayed

Rasterization / Smoothing

  • Filter method for noise reducing data reduction
  • Generate a point grid with the same spacing
  • Thinning out point measurement data, when the actually measured values are received
  • Data reduction and smoothing of measurement data

Removing outliers

  • Automatically remove isolated single points
  • Determine and remove sparsely occupied point areas
  • Removal of point clusters that fall below a percentage of the total data set
